A life of purpose
Called to Serve
Before he was formed in his mother's womb, God's tender and delicate hands were creating a masterpiece—a man who would one day become a powerful servant of God, a devoted shepherd, and a profound teacher of God's Holy Written Word. Reverend Eric James Grant is a living testimony that God's purpose is established long before we fully understand His plan.
It is written that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Throughout Pastor Grant's life, his journey has been filled with experiences both good and bad, some easy and others difficult. Yet through every season, God was molding, strengthening, and preparing him for divine service. With a willing heart and unwavering faith, Pastor Grant answered the call and committed his life to the cause of Christ.
A faithful beginning
Answering the Call
In 2005, Pastor Grant embarked upon a significant spiritual assignment when he became Pastor of Harvest Ministries in Houston, Texas. With great anticipation, he embraced the responsibilities of shepherding God's people. Eager to receive divine guidance and instruction from his Heavenly Father, he established high expectations for ministry, understanding that the work of the Lord requires dedication, humility, sacrifice, and obedience.
Learning and leadership
A Lifetime of Service & Learning
Pastor Grant recognizes that effective ministry requires both spiritual preparation and a commitment to lifelong learning. He graduated from B.F. Terry High School on May 31, 1985, and successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Certification program at the University of Houston-Downtown on May 9, 1986. Continuing his educational journey, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Biblical Studies in Houston, Texas, on August 30, 2010.
Before entering the field of education, Pastor Grant served honorably in law enforcement for 31 years, dedicating himself to protecting and serving his community. After retiring from law enforcement, he continued his commitment to shaping and empowering others by becoming a high school teacher. In the classroom, he draws upon his life experience, discipline, compassion, and dedication to help guide and inspire the next generation.
Demonstrating his continued desire to serve and minister to the needs of others, Pastor Grant is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) at Prairie View A&M University. His pursuit of advanced education reflects his commitment to spiritual leadership, community service, compassion, and the well-being of individuals and families.
Faith in action
Serving Beyond the Church Walls
Pastor Grant also developed a deep passion for serving individuals experiencing homelessness. After recognizing the significant needs of people in his community and personally serving them, he founded Harvest for the Homeless, an outreach ministry dedicated to providing care, compassion, and practical support to those in need. Through this ministry, he continues to demonstrate that the love of Christ must be expressed not only through words, but also through meaningful service and action.
Throughout his ministry, Pastor Grant has remained committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His teaching and preaching are grounded in the Word of God, with a desire to encourage believers, strengthen families, reach the lost, and inspire others to develop a deeper relationship with Christ. He believes that ministry extends beyond the walls of the church and that God's love must be demonstrated through service, kindness, and compassion.
Grace through every season
Faith and Family
Like many faithful servants, Pastor Grant's walk with God has not been without trials. He has experienced seasons of great joy as well as profound sorrow, including the illness and passing of his first wife. Yet even through the difficult valleys of life, his faith in God has remained a source of strength. His testimony reflects the sustaining power of God's grace and the assurance that God remains faithful through every circumstance.
In God's divine timing, Pastor Grant was blessed with another beautiful chapter in his life through his marriage to Courtney Williams Grant. Together, they share a commitment to faith, family, love, and service. Their family includes Christopher (Jasmin), Harrison (Umera), Alize, and Trinity, as well as six grandchildren, each holding a special place in their hearts.
A new chapter of ministry
Leading Greater Grace Trinity
On September 27, 2026, Reverend Eric Grant began serving as Interim Pastor of Greater Grace Trinity Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, following the retirement of Reverend Roy E. Madison, now Pastor Emeritus. Pastor Grant accepted this assignment with humility, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to God's calling upon his life.
As he leads Greater Grace Trinity Baptist Church into a new season, Pastor Grant remains dedicated to sound biblical teaching, spiritual growth, evangelism, fellowship, and community outreach. He embraces the church's mission:
“Let Every Soul Save a Soul, Then Every Soul Will Be Saved.”
His heart's desire is to see lives transformed through the power of God's Word and to encourage others to walk faithfully in the purpose God has ordained for them.
Pastor Grant's life is a continuing testimony that God's calling does not come without challenges, but His grace is always sufficient. Every victory, every hardship, every lesson, and every blessing has helped prepare him for such a time as this.
As he continues his journey of faith, Pastor Grant stands firm in the assurance that the same God who called him will continue to guide, strengthen, and sustain him.
His life reflects a simple yet powerful truth: When God calls a man, He equips him, prepares him, and orders his steps according to His divine purpose.
To God be the glory for the great things He has done—and for the greater things yet to come.
